Collection: Magic Realism

     In this piece, I explored the lines between reality and fantasy, and the places where one bleeds into and touches the other. In most women, perhaps all, there are various balances between the hard-working go-getter (whether career-woman, artist, athlete, or stay-at-home mom) and the fairy princess.

     On a grander scale, even in the most mundane and regular parts of the “real world,” we can find beauty and magic. Conversely, no fairy tale is free from the challenges that we face in reality. In fact, fantasy helps us deal with the hard things in life by solving them in a safe context. The tensions and melding between the two concepts of fantasy and reality present the complexities, but also the beauties, of the world we live in.
