Collection: Truth and Perception
For this collection, I explored the contrast between the pure truth and how we, as flawed beings, perceive truth. My textile print represents distorted truth through an image of the sky reflected upon itself until it is almost unrecognizable. For the final designs, I wanted to contrast flowing, ambiguous lines with hard lines and structured pieces.
Flowing pants, sheer illusion sleeves, and a sheer chiffon overdress represent perception clouding the truth. A blocky, square dress and a structured top represent the pure truth. Materials for the designs include black silk for the pants, sheer synthetic fabric for the illusion sleeves and cotton for the structured portion of the shirt and the square dress. For the shoes, faux leather is used for the boots and heels and cotton fabric and faux leather is used for the heels with straps.

Full Collection
All designs for this collection shown together. Skin and hair were hand-rendered with colored pencil and marker. Fabrics and patterns were added with Photoshop.

02
Mood Board
The mood board for the Truth and Perception collection. Themes include man's innocence, the clear perception of truth, the introduction of sin and consequent clouding of perception, and the future restoration of a pure view of truth.

03
Textile Print
The textile print used in the collection (created by the designer in Photoshop). The image is of the sky, copied and inverted on itself to create a plaid-like pattern. This represents truth and the distortion of perception.

Collection Design #1
The first design for the collection. The shape and hard lines are reflective of the clear lines of truth.

05
Collection Design #2
The second design for the collection. The silk organza skirt portrays the way that human perception allows a person to see the truth, but only dimly.

06
Collection Design #3
The third design for the collection. The loose, flowing black silk pants and sheer sleeves represent a clouded view of reality. The structured portion of the blouse shows truth rising from the mists of distortion
